How
are Russian consumers dealing with the sanctions imposed by Visa &
MasterCard?
You might think that the recent
sanctions imposed on Russia by Visa & Mastercard and many other western
companies is having a devastating effect on the Russian economy. But
nothing could be further from the truth.
Since 2016, Visa and MasterCard have partnered with
local banks within Russia, with visa and Mastercard both working with
the banks to issue cards there. Sberbank is the largest card issuer with
some 61% of the entire Russian market. Other banks such as VTB,
Alfabank, Tinkoff make up the rest.
The Central Bank of Russia (CBR)
clarified that all Visa and MasterCard payment cards issued by Russian
banks will continue operating in Russia as usual until their expiry
date. Transactions on such cards are processed within the National
System of Payment Cards inside Russia, and sanctions will not affect
them. Funds on clients' accounts linked to such cards are fully
preserved and accessible, the CBR said. But what happens when these
cards expire you may ask? There appears to be an easy solution for
this. Card expiry dates are extended at the bank so that no matter what
the cards says on the front, the card actually has a later card date.
Card chips are updated with scripts as they are used at a bank or
payment terminal. Many more have followed the banks’ advice to use
mobile wallets for which no plastic card is required. Better for the
planet, they claim.
Given that Russian cards continue to
be processed within their own country, there remains no dependence on
the outside world, and especially not on Visa or MasterCard. Who
actually loses in this situation?
China and Russian card alliance
organisations are actively discussing how China UnionPay and Russian MIR
card schemes can be co-branded onto a single card. UnionPay itself
enjoys broad acceptance globally these days, so this should enable
Russians to continue to use their cards globally in the one term.
As a recent holidaymaker to a foreign
climate I can attest to the fact that Russians continue to travel
abroad, the same as they ever did. To quote the famous song “Same as it
ever was”.
Meanwhile OmniPayments continues to
support card payment processors across the globe. The core competences
of a payment switch are still important and valid whether on-premise or
in the cloud based “OmniCloudX” solution. Consumers want choice of
payment options and OmniPayments is delivering it through its
cloud-based solution. Merchants who want to expand their payment
choices can now deploy flexibly with OmniPayments. Banks that need to
expand the range of offerings at ATMs can do easily with OmniPayments.
OmniPayments offers the dynamism of a
true real time card processing system, one that can both create a
virtual card record entry in real time, capture enough of the customer’s
details and associate that purchase with that same card record, and be
ready to generate communication with the clients to remind of the due
payment and options for payment.
OmniPayments includes a wide choice
of payments options to consumers while enabling Card Switching, Card
Authorisation, Card Issuing, Transaction aggregation Loyalty, and Fraud
Management Portfolio. We also help organisations to modernise their own
existing switches.

Gravic Publishes Articles on Leveraging Heterogeneous Data
Transformation and Distribution & HPE Shadowbase Zero Downtime
Migration
Gravic recently published,
Leverage Heterogeneous Data Transformation and Distribution to
Create New Business Opportunities
in the March/April issue of The Connection. This article highlights
some interesting developments in how data replication engines are
not only useful for business continuity architectures, but also in
providing data integration for value-add solutions. The article
discusses the industry’s shift and focus on the importance of data,
the
HPE Shadowbase Essentials Bundle
(which can expedite and simplify the data transformation process),
and several different case studies demonstrating how data
replication is used in a heterogeneous environment.

Shadowbase Zero Downtime Migration Software Eliminates Planned
Downtime and Business Risk!
Enterprise IT staff are often tasked with updating their hardware
and software, upgrading their application and database, installing
new operating system versions, and performing system and datacenter
migrations. All mission-critical teams must perform these operations
without taking the application services offline. How can they
accomplish this? With
HPE Shadowbase Zero Downtime Migration (ZDM).
HPE Shadowbase ZDM software provides continuous availability,
eliminates planned downtime (no downtime for the application during
migration), and removes business risk for upgrades to applications,
databases, systems, and for site migrations.

XYPRO presents Zero-Trust
Security, Enterprise Integration at Global Venues
On
the Road Again……………
It’s
going to be a busy Spring and Summer! XYPRO has been invited to several
events where we’ll be presenting on Zero-Trust Security and Enterprise
Integration.
Integrating HPE NonStop with Enterprise Security Solutions
HPE
NonStop Servers and Applications can be a challenge to integrate with
enterprise processes. Without enterprise integration, User, Identity and
Access Management rely on manual processes.
XYGATE security, compliance, and risk management solutions modernize
NonStop applications and integrate your HPE NonStop servers with the
latest enterprise solutions like Sailpoint IdentityIQ, CyberArk,
ServiceNow, and others. XYGATE integration means visibility and
governance of your NonStop processes – saving time and money while
greatly reducing risk. It has never been so easy to be a seamless part
of the enterprise!
Zero-Trust Security with HPE and XYPRO: Reduce the Cost of Security and
Compliance by 80%
The probability that an organization will experience a breach in the
next 24 months is high and the current time to identify and contain a
breach is still 280 days. XYPRO security solutions reduce the mean time
to detect, and the resources required to respond to potential breaches
by up to 80%, dramatically reducing the impact of a breach on your
enterprise.
HPE and XYPRO have expanded our decades-long partnership and XYPRO’s
entire suite of mission-critical security and integration solutions is
available through HPE. This unique partnership removes complexity and
reduces cost by delivering fully integrated, ZERO Trust solutions to
secure and manage the HPE NonStop technology stack.
HPE and XYPRO solutions integrate into your company’s existing security
infrastructure, for a zero-trust security model. Contact your HPE or
XYPRO representative for a free rapid security assessment of your
systems.

TIC SOFTWARE: The JSON tool for
transforming NonStop Data
There is a growing need for
NonStop applications to interoperate with other platforms. JSON is the
ubiquitous, defacto format for sending data between web servers and
browsers, and mobile applications.
Its simple design and
flexibility make it easy to read and understand, and easy to be
manipulated and adapted to any software platform.
Attend this
webinar
to learn how
JSON Thunder
enables NonStop applications
to easily transform data to and from JSON format to facilitate
interoperability.

HPE NonStop Simplifying
Access to Legacy Payments Applications
Many HPE NonStop users have extremely reliable, well-performing legacy
payment applications, such as Connex or BASE24Ⓡ. While those
applications do their core functions well, they can be difficult to
access, or users may struggle to have them integrate with other modern
back-end applications. REST services can help here too.
Let's look at a BASE24 sanario,
the BASE24 system administrator wants to make a transaction available as
a REST service, making it more easily accessible by internal or external
consumers. Typical consumers include internet banking applications and
business partners wanting to access those transactions.
LightWave Server™
presents the transaction as a standard JSON REST service, allowing it to
be consumed anywhere, by any platform or application that supports REST.
In typical NuWave customer deployments, we have seen this type of use
case dramatically decrease the amount of time required to develop
support for a new transaction on the client side–often a reduction from
weeks to hours is possible. We’ve also seen significant savings over
time when customers move to LightWave solutions from Web services
solutions provided by the payment vendor.

enhance your payment applications
